Only the best olives are selected from each harvest from November to January. Verlina sells a mixed pack of black Kalamon and green Halkidiki olives, as well as the Throumba olives, for which Thassos island is famous. Throumba are black and wrinkly with a raisin-like texture and a unique ripe olive taste. All of our olives are vacuum-packed in bags to retain maximum freshness.

The EU has classified Thassos Island Throumba Olives as PDO – Protected Designation of Origin. This is only awarded to quality foods and identifies their origin and their distinctive characteristics.
After being dried naturally on the tree, they are processed with dry sea salt in a traditional Greek way. Due to the fact that they have been left longer on the tree than other varieties, they retain a much higher percentage of the nutrients, which fight heart disease and cancer. In fact, when compared to other varieties of olives, Throumba contain a significantly higher amount of oleuropein, which has been proven to be a potent antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.
